As in past years the Society manned the Rocketts Voting Precinct building to. The weather this year was a bit iffy but the temperature was wonderful.

Field day of the past goochland. Field Day operates as a not-for-profit organization and contributes to many local charities organizations and non-profits including the Massey Cancer Center Boy Scouts of America American Heart Association several hospices area rescue squads and fire departments Habitat for Humanity area churches Goochland Food Pantry and many others. On September 19 th Field Day of the Past opened and the Goochland County Historical Society was there to join in the celebration. The weekends weather held beautifully bringing out the crowds to join in the yearly event.

The steam engines generators train cars and Richmond memorabilia make up the Field Day of the Past in Goochland which he and a group of friends started 21 years ago and which attracted a high of 42000 people last year.

See the old steam shovel in operation as well as other outdated pieces of earth moving equipment. Take a seat on the collection of counterweights and watch the action. Field Day of the Past a popular three-day festival is headed to Goochland this weekend with truck pulls carnival rides and living history demonstrations.
Field Day of the Past will continue to seek a new venue. We are hoping to host a 2021 event on Sept. 17-19 2021 dependent on securing a site.

What a great time at the Field Day of the Past out in Goochland County Virginia. Here is some footage from the day and I wish we could have stayed longer bu. Going on through Sunday in Goochland County is the 23rd annual Field Day of the Past conceived as an old-time country fair.
Since 1992 when the festival began the event expanded to two days and then three. This year the artistically inclined can enjoy quilting and weaving demonstrations as well as arts and crafts stations. I am an enthusiastic quilter scrapbooker and grandmother of many grandangels.
